Main features

They are normally provided one or more of the following activities or accessories:

  • Electrical lighting system made using ATEX certified components for zone 1 or 2 (lamps, switches, sockets, cables, MCT cable passages, junction boxes, distribution board, etc.)

  •  Fire & Gas plant built using ATEX certified components for zone 1 or 2

  • Outside ducts with length calculated according the reaction time of gas detection system and also the closing time of gas-tight dampers. Thus allowing the complete closure of the dampers before the gas has reached the inside container environment.

  • Air conditioning system made with ATEX certified air conditioners for zone 1 or 2

  • Pressurization system realized by ATEX certified explosion-proof electrical fans for zone 1 or 2

  • Chemical filtration system with activated carbon filters

  • Prearrangement for connection to the safe area of the air inlet and outlet ducts of the cooling system (particularly for generating sets or equipment that require the use of combustion engines)

  • Auxiliary ventilation system using ATEX certified explosion-proof electric fans for classified zone 1 or 2.

  • Purging system with ATEX certified fans and gas-tight dampers classified for hazardous zone 1 or 2. The system is used for the container environment inside cleaning, before starting up of the installed equipment or (according to different conditions of use) when the gas is found by gas detection system.

  • Gas cooler system for cooling the exhaust gas i containerised generator sets, until the defined temperature class is reached, below the threshold of ignition.

  • Gas-tight dampers, certified ATEX for hazardous zone 1 or 2

  • Documentation – Sital is able to supply all the documentation required by the reference specifications, including the ATEX certification of the system issued by third party (if required).

Blast Resistance and Passive Fire Protection

The SITAL offer can be limited to the supply of the Containers or Substations only, complete with all the necessary prearrangements for connection to a safe zone, for the pressurization system and for the conditioning system. Or alternatively, the supply may be to be extended to the complete package, including all the required systems: lighting, Fire & Gas, HVAC, pressurization, electrical connections etc.

The structural characteristics of containers or substations can be adapted to passive fire protection and blast resistance classes dictated by the reference specifications (according to SOLAS or EN 13501 and ASCE regulations).
